MEETING MINUTES

Officers: Roger Krebs (Residential Services) Chair, Colen Drinkard (Volunteer Center) Chair Elect, Jeri Strange (YMCA) Vice Chair, Bruce McComb (RECA Foundation) Secretary, Juli Davis (Chinook Campfire) Treasurer.

Meetings: Normally the first Wednesday of each month, 8:30 - 10:00 am, United Way Building.

In attendance: Ed Frost (B/F Transit), Juli Davis (Chinook Campfire), Annette Clark (Contact Helpline), Sylvia Bakan (Div. of Children & Fam Svcs), Patti Benton (ECEAP), Judy Schenk (Health & Safety Networks), Debi Yadao (Kennewick Housing Authority), Susan Thornton (League of Women Voters), Laurie Schoffstall (Lutheran Social Services), Bruce McComb (RECA Foundation), Ronda Evans (RECA Foundation), Roger Krebs (TC Residential Svcs), Debby Barham (United Way), Jeri Strange (YMCA). Also Denine Houchins (Goodwill Industries), Peggy Buchmiller (CBC).

The meeting was called to order by Roger Krebs at 8:30 am.

Roger went over the new meeting format adopted by the Executive Committee. Basically, the meeting starts with introductions (no announcements), then two agencies with make a short presentation (shoot for 5 minutes) about who they are and what they do. Next will be the program, followed by the treasurer's report and minute approval and, finally, any agency announcements.

(Secretary's note: For those that need to leave early or have detailed announcements, please make sure that I get a copy of the information for insertion into the minutes).

Agency Spotlight

- YMCA, ECEAP and Chinook Campfire Boys & Girls.

Christmas Project.

About 260 kids signed up so far. $15 - $20 gifts... Get gifts to YMCA or Volunteer Center as soon as possible. Reminder on dates: December 3 - Gifts Applications returned to Jeri. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT ANY APPLICATIONS AFTER DECEMBER 3. If you need Kids Christmas Gift Applications, please call Jeri. December 4 - 14 - HSC members and other groups/agencies purchase gifts and turn them in at YMCA or Volunteer Center. December 15/16 - Gift wrapped/sorted at Volunteer Center. December 17 - Agencies pick up gifts from Volunteer Center. December 20 - 24 - Gifts delivered to children.

Mission Statement review. What does it mean to members.

"The Human Services Coalition advocates for a community that is responsive to the human needs of health, safety, and justice"

Coming year. Give some thought about what is going on in each member’s area of interest and ask the question - "how can the Human Services Coalition use its voice to advocate for your interests and needs?"

B/F Transit - Reducing budget by 45%.
