MEETING MINUTES

Officers: Sally Butler (Kennewick Housing Authority) Chair, Roger Krebs (Residential Services) Chair Elect, Jeri Strange (YMCA) Vice Chair, Bruce McComb (RECA Foundation) Secretary, Susan Thornton (Health Care Task Force) Treasurer.

Meetings: Normally the first Wednesday of each month, 8:30 - 10:00 am, United Way Building.

In attendance: Dottie Walton-Luglan (American Cancer Society), Ed Frost (B/F Transit), Debra Biondolillo (Benton Franklin Transit), Susan Shay-Johnson (BF Health Dept), Judith Dirks (Catholic Family & Child Svcs), Sylvia Bakan (Div. of Children & Fam Svcs), Patti Benton (ECEAP), Nita Sullivan (FARE), Judy Schenk (Health & Safe\ty Network), Sally Butler (Kennewick Housing Authority), Susan Thornton (League of Women Voters), Toni Maritima (Lutheran Social Services), Bruce McComb (RECA Foundation), Melanie Ogryzek (RYSC), Roger Krebs (TC Residential Svcs), Jeri Strange (YMCA). Introductions and Announcements (summarized):

Dottie Walton-Luglan - Office being upgraded to a full service office. Need a new space in the January time frame. If you know of available space, please call her at 783-5108 or e-mail dwaltonl@cancer.org.

Judy Shenk - B/F Network. Now coordinator (director resigned). Putting together 2 year plan. Attendees were asked to rank the "Interim Results" of the current community needs and strengths. Jeri-Strange - YMCA has started their School Age Child Care Program for 1999 - 2000. Call the YMCA at 374-1908 for details.

Nita Sullivan - A Free Community Health Education information session will be held at the Richland Public Library, Tuesday, Sept 28 from 7-8:30 PM.

Treasurer's Report: No activity. Balance $4104.54 (21 Membership renewals).

Elections coming up in November - Volunteer Now!!

May's meeting minutes will be sent out with September's.

Roger Krebs talked about Initiative 695 (Automobile Excise Tax). Members are asked to research this Initiative and its effect on communities. Bring your thoughts to the October 6 meeting for potential HSC statement on this Initiative. A committee will be formed between now and then to further discuss this issue. If you have input and/or wish to participate, call Sally Butler at 586-8576.
