The Human Services Coalition normally meets the first Wednesday of each month in the United Way Building (401 N. Young, Kennewick). The meetings run from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Our mission statement:

1997 Global Information Infrastructure U.S. Awards (GII)

The RECA Foundation's TCFN and CBPIN were selected as Semi-Finalists in three categories: Community Technology Building, Public Access, and Promise the Children.  Finalists to be selected in February 1998 and Winners in March 1998. January 7, 1998

Officers: Lara Bartol (Volunteer Center) Chair, Sally Butler (Planned Parenthood of Central Wa) Chair Elect, Jeri Strange (YMCA) Vice Chair, Bruce McComb (RECA Foundation) Secretary, Susan Thornton (League of Women Voters) Treasurer.

Meetings: Normally the first Wednesday of each month, 9:00am - 10:30am, United Way Building.

In attendance: Susan Shay-Johnson (B/F Health Dept), Sandy Owen (B/F Health Dept), Mary Hoffman (B/F Juvenile Justice Center), Michelle Mann (B/F PIC), Pat Underwood (B/F Crisis Response Unit, Gordon Robson (CCC), Susan Thornton (League of Women Voters), Sally Butler (Planned Parenthood), Valli Ross (Planned Parenthood), Bruce McComb (RECA Foundation), Melanie Ogryzek (RYSC), Roger Krebs (Tri-Cities Residential), Lucy Love (United Way), Lara Bartol (Volunteer Center), Lizann Powers-Hammond (WSU COOP Extension), Jeri Strange (YMCA). The meeting was called to order by Lara Bartol at 9:00am.

December 3, 1997 minutes were approved by all.

Treasurer's Report (October): Beginning Balance - $3432.61; Income - $50.00; Balance - $3482.61.

Letter to Legislators. All approved a motion for a letter from the HSC to the Legislators concerning the DDD Budget Deficit.

Program:

Planning for 1998. The basic mission of the HSC will remain the same with monthly programs focused on broad areas of interest and benefit to all members. Sharing information with each other as well as the greater community is central to the mission. There will be a greater emphasis on communicating with elected officials. Committees will be formed as the need arises and as volunteers step forward.
